A 39-year-old man already serving a life sentence for murder has been arrested in connection with three additional killings in Long Beach dating back two decades, police said on Friday, Oct. 31.<\/p>\n
Glenn Cox was booked Oct. 17 on suspicion of three counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, Long Beach police said.<\/p>\n
He is imprisoned at Avenal State Prison for an unrelated murder and attempted murder case.<\/p>\n
Authorities said Cox confessed to several killings and an attempted murder to a staff member at the prison, who alerted detectives. Investigators later obtained additional confessions and corroborating evidence linking him to the three Long Beach shootings from 2004 to 2007, police said.<\/p>\n
The first occurred Dec. 20, 2004, in the area of the 100 block of East Pleasant Street. Two men \u2014Carlos Serrano, 23, and Jeremy Kershaw, 22, both of Long Beach \u2014 died, while two others survived.<\/p>\n
On Feb. 16, 2007, officers responding to the 1700 block of Cherry Avenue found Dino Marks, 31, of Long Beach shot multiple times on a sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
The third case occurred Aug. 26, 2007, when a man riding a bicycle was shot and wounded in the 1000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway.<\/p>\n
Detectives said all three shootings appear to be gang-related.
