A 22-year-old Torrance man was sentenced Friday to time served in jail for a hit-and-run collision that injured two men in Anaheim.<\/p>\n
Hassan Hamid Ali pleaded guilty May 1 to reckless driving causing injury and hit-and-run with injury, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of assault with a deadly weapon. Ali also admitted sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victims.<\/p>\n
Ali was sentenced to 360 days in jail and placed on three years of formal probation.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to State College Boulevard and Orangewood Avenue about 2 a.m. Nov. 1, 2024 regarding reports of reckless driving. When officers arrived, they saw hundreds of vehicles and pedestrians blocking the intersection, police said in testimony at the defendant\u2019s preliminary hearing.<\/p>\n
Officers saw signs of tire tracks from vehicles doing donuts in the area, police said.<\/p>\n
The two 19-year-old men were seriously injured in a collision with a Dodge Charger had \u201cbloodied faces\u201d and \u201csevere burns,\u201d police said. One of the men suffered a broken leg with a bone sticking out.<\/p>\n
The victims, who were spectators, were struck by a Dodge Charger that spun out of control, trapping them under the car for a short time, police said.
