(KGET) \u2014 A person is dead Monday after crashing into Lake Isabella following a pursuit with the California Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>According to CHP, just after 6 p.m. Saturday, officers attempted a traffic stop in the area of Scodie Avenue and Durwood Street in Kernville. The vehicle, a 2018 white Land Rover, failed to yield and a pursuit began southbound on Sierra Way.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ylk=\"slk:Watch 17 News, After Sunrise and more local news free on your smart TV. Click to learn more about KGET+\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The vehicle failed to safely turn in the area of Stine Cove and a short time later landed into a dirt embankment and Lake Isabella, according to CHP.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle fully submerged into the lake after the crash. The driver did not emerge and was found inside the car just before 3 a.m. Sunday after a rescue operation ensued.<\/p>\n<p>The driver had fatal injuries, according to CHP.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
