BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 Court documents detail an inmate, who was convicted of kidnapping and rape, planned to escape custody at Kern Medical<\/a> earlier this month with the help of his cellmate and sister.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, Vincent Deleon<\/a> was taken to Kern Medical for medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Documents said while at Kern Medical, Deleon \u201cpushed a deputy to the ground, removed the deputy’s oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray and sprayed the deputy’s face several times with the OC spray temporarily incapacitating the deputy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The inmate left Kern Medical with the deputy’s spray and hid in a neighborhood nearby.<\/p>\n

Deleon was found by deputies at a home near Kern Medical.<\/p>\n

Documents said under Miranda, Deleon \u201cadmitted having \u2018escaped\u2019 custody, removing the OC spray from the deputy, spraying the deputy’s face with the deputy’s OC spray and using force to escape custody.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the court document, Deleon claimed he knew the police were looking for him and planned on hiding nearby until the police search was called off to evade apprehension.<\/p>\n

The document said recorded jail calls showed Deleon\u2019s cellmate of two years called Deleon\u2019s sister, instructed her with directions and information of Deleon\u2019s plan to escape. The document said while on the run, Deleon used a person\u2019s phone to call his sister and gave her instructions on where to meet him since he had recently escaped custody.<\/p>\n

The document said Deleon admitted his cellmate knew of his desire to escape custody after his medical treatment at Kern Medical.<\/p>\n

Deleon was arrested and booked into Lerdo for additional charges.<\/p>\n

On April 15, 2026, Vincent Deleon was convicted <\/a>on charges, including rape, oral copulation by force, sodomy, rape with a foreign object, carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, conspiracy, dissuading a witness, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and being a felon with a firearm. The charges followed when Deleon kidnapped a woman as she was leaving the In-Shape gym on Coffee Road, robbed her, and raped her back in 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
