A $10,000 treasure chest buried somewhere in San Francisco<\/a> has been found.<\/p>\n

The existence of the 150-pound treasure chest was initially shared on a website titled \u201cBuried Treasure, San Francisco<\/a>\u201d before getting posted on the r\/sanfrancisco subreddit<\/a> on April 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne year ago we announced here that we buried a $10,000 treasure chest. Many hunters went searching and it was found in just 11 hours,\u201d the Reddit post reads. “We did it again.\u201d<\/p>\n

An update was posted on Tuesday (May 19), revealing the treasure chest has been found. \u201cWe received photographic proof from the exact location,\u201d the post states. \u201cThe finder(s) will hopefully share some information.\u201d<\/p>\n

The alleged discovery brings an end to a weeks-long search that has left behind a trail of holes in several city parks.<\/p>\n

KGO-TV<\/a> reported last week that San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department officials are assessing the damage from people digging in search of the buried treasure.<\/p>\n

What is inside the treasure chest?<\/p>\n

According to the \u201cBuried Treasure, San Francisco\u201d website, the treasure chest weighed more than 150 pounds, and consisted of \u201cgleaming ingots, currency and San Francisco artifacts,\u201d with half of the value in gold.<\/p>\n

What was known about its location?<\/p>\n

The treasure chest was located \u201cwithin 7 miles of San Francisco\u2019s city hall,\u201d and buried one foot deep.<\/p>\n

What other clues were provided?<\/p>\n

Clues were given in the form of a poem that read:<\/p>\n

\u201cMinute steps climb, and beyond fingers rise,<\/p>\n

onward on pins where the treasure lies<\/p>\n

deem heavenly island towers, over derelict ward;<\/p>\n

stern wood haven north and powell, off back-ward<\/p>\n

under stone this mint rests buried in keep,<\/p>\n

but intermiss briefly, please-do take a seat<\/p>\n

spare a moment between us, you who shall reap;<\/p>\n

only we know this plane, this sanctum, this peep<\/p>\n

let’s celebrate our land, the city, this jaunt,<\/p>\n

the clamber, the sights, our sole hunt for this haunt<\/p>\n

truly framed in full, cast stage-left at your feet;<\/p>\n

dig just one foot down and-finally-heft the prize that you seek”<\/p>\n
