{"id":335351,"date":"2026-05-28T02:05:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T02:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/335351\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T02:05:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T02:05:07","slug":"suspect-arraigned-in-fresno-fatal-shooting-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/335351\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect arraigned in Fresno fatal shooting case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The man charged in a fatal March shooting that left two 15-year-olds dead and a 14-year-old injured pleaded \u201cnot guilty\u201d Wednesday in Fresno County Superior Court.<\/p>\n<p>Lelan Lee, 25, was <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/article315803054.html\">charged with seven counts<\/a>, including two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder, plus enhancements for using a gun for allegedly <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article315160911.html\">opening fire on four teens<\/a>. A 17-year-old with the other teens was not struck by gunfire, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>His attorney declined comment to The Bee on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The teens were headed to a friend\u2019s home after visiting a nearby eatery about 1:30 a.m. March 23 near the intersection of San Jose Avenue and Fourth Street, south of Barstow Avenue, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Lee faces a life sentence without the possibility of parole, or could face the death penalty, if convicted on all counts. A decision on whether to pursue the death penalty had not been decided, according to Taylor Long, the spokesperson for the Fresno County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Lee has two previous felony convictions for robbery, one in 2022 and the other in 2019.
