Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced a Long Beach woman was indicted on attempted kidnapping and other charged after attempting to kidnap a 15-month-old.<\/p>\n

A Long Beach woman has been indicted for attempting to kidnap a 15-month-old child while her great-grandfather was taking her for an afternoon walk in Long Beach, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly announced.<\/p>\n
Heather Magone was arraigned on Thursday, May 28, on charges of attempted kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment, according to the DA\u2019s office. She pleaded not guilty and bail was set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond, and $100,000 partially secured bond.<\/p>\n
Magone is due back in court on June 23 and faces up to three and 1\/2 to 15 years in prison if convicted, Donnelly said.<\/p>\n
On April 6, a 79-year-old man was taking his 15-month-old great-granddaughter out for a walk in her baby stroller on West Penn Street in Long Beach, when Magone was walking her dog barefoot behind them, Donnelly said.<\/p>\n
She allegedly ran up to them, scratched and bit the great-grandfather, and attempted to forcefully grab onto the stroller, the DA said. The great-grandfather sustained cuts to his face, hands, and knees, Donnelly said.<\/p>\n
Magone allegedly ripped the great-grandfather\u2019s hands off the stroller, which then toppled over with the toddler strapped inside, the DA said.<\/p>\n
Magone allegedly continued to resist and reach for the stroller until the victim\u2019s great-grandfather managed to push her away and restrain her until members of the Long Beach Police Department arrived, Donnelly said.<\/p>\n
