OAKLAND \u2014 A 32-year-old woman was shot Thursday morning in West Oakland, authorities said.<\/p>\n
She was reportedly in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her lower back area.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened about 10:05 a.m. in the 1600 block of Eighth Street outside the Campbell Village public housing complex.<\/p>\n
Initial reports were that the woman was on a sidewalk standing near a vehicle when she was shot. It was not immediately known if she was the intended target.<\/p>\n
No motive was immediately released nor any suspect information.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened near Prescott Elementary School which was placed on lockdown as a precaution, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Oakland police initially responded to the scene, but the investigation was later turned over to Oakland Housing Authority police.
