FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 A Fresno man is facing felony charges after police say they discovered nearly 1,300 pounds of illegal fireworks during an operation Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
According to the Fresno Fire Department, investigators working alongside Fresno police officers arrested a man accused of storing illegal fireworks valued at more than $10,000.<\/p>\n
Officials say the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal fireworks with intent to sell. <\/p>\n
In addition to the felony charges, he was issued a $2,250 citation.<\/p>\n
The Fresno Fire Department says illegal fireworks pose serious risks to public safety, especially during the summer months when hot and dry conditions can increase the threat of fires.<\/p>\n
Authorities are reminding residents that fireworks-related consequences extend beyond injuries and property damage. <\/p>\n
Selling or possessing illegal fireworks can lead to significant fines, criminal charges, and a permanent impact on a person’s future.<\/p>\n
“Illegal fireworks are dangerous, unpredictable, and illegal for a reason,” the Fresno Fire Department said in a social media post announcing the arrest.<\/p>\n
Officials are encouraging the public to report illegal fireworks activity and to celebrate responsibly by attending professional fireworks displays instead.<\/p>\n
