STARTING AT 11:00 TONIGHT AND RUNNING THROUGH EARLY MORNING SUNDAY 3:00 IN THE MORNING. SUNDAY THAT IS NORTHBOUND CAPITAL CITY FREEWAY. IT WILL BE CLOSED. THIS IS A PART OF A $239 MILLION PROJECT. THIS CLOSURE WILL BE STRETCHING FROM N STREET TO EXPOSITION BOULEVARD. TAKE A LOOK. THIS IS WHAT LIVECOPTER3 CAPTURED. THIS IS THAT PORTION OF THE ROAD. NOT ON A MAP, BUT RATHER IN REAL LIFE. CALTRANS CREWS WILL BE APPLYING A LAYER OF POLYESTER CONCRETE TO THE BRIDGE THROUGH THAT ZONE. ULTIMATELY A PART OF THE AMERICAN RIVER BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT. WITH THAT SAID, ALL SOUTHBOUND LANES WILL REMAIN OPEN DURING THIS NORTHBOUND CLOSURE. WE SPOKE TO CALTRANS ABOUT THE PROJECT\u2019S PROGRESS SO FAR. IT\u2019S IMPORTANT FOR DRIVERS TO KNOW THAT THIS IS PART OF THE PROJECT APPROACHING ITS COMPLETION DATE, WHICH IS SUMMER OF THIS YEAR. ALL GOOD NEWS FOR PEOPLE WHO USE THAT STRETCH. SO WITH THAT SAID, CALTRANS IS ASKING DRIVERS TO FIND A DIFFERENT ROUTE DURING THIS CLOSURE. AND WITH THAT SAID, LET\u2019S BRING IN TRAFFIC EXPERT BRIAN HICKEY. ALL RIGHT. THANKS, AARON. ONE ROUTE WOULD BE TO TAKE WESTBOUND HIGHWAY 50 OVER TO I-5, TO EASTBOUND 80 TO GET AROUND ALL OF THAT. IF YOU NEED TO GET INTO SOME OF THESE AREAS AROUND ARDEN AND BEYOND, YOU HAVE SEVERAL OPTIONS. YOU CAN USE THE HOWE AVENUE BRIDGE RIGHT THERE, THE H STREET BRIDGE THERE, OR HEAD OVER TO 160 AND TAKE 160 ACROSS DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU\u2019RE TRYING TO GET TO. THOSE ARE JUST SOME OF THE\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCaltrans announced a scheduled 28-hour full closure of northbound Capital City Freeway from 11 p.m. on Friday to 3 a.m. Sunday, as crews continue work on the American River Bridge Rehabilitation Project.The closure will affect northbound traffic from N Street to Exposition Boulevard. According to Caltrans, construction crews will apply a polyester concrete overlay to the bridge deck, a process that requires extended curing time and makes the full closure necessary. Southbound lanes will remain open during the work.Several ramps and connectors will also be closed, including the northbound P Street, J Street and E Street on-ramps, as well as the eastbound and westbound U.S. Highway 50 connectors to northbound Capital City Freeway\/Business 80.Officials are urging motorists to use alternate routes and avoid the area during the closure.
