Comedian and late-night talk show host Bill Maher<\/a> slammed California<\/a> for its underperforming education<\/a> system and lengthy permitting delays for green energy <\/a>development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say this with love, [Democrats<\/a> are] losing to the Waffle House, car-on-the-lawn states,\u201d Maher said on Real Time with Bill Maher<\/a> Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMississippi is kicking our ass in education, and for way less money<\/a>,\u201d Maher said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He quoted a statistic from the New York Times that said, \u201cA black Mississippi child is two and a half times as likely to be proficient in reading by fourth grade as a black California child.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher said California ranks 37th in fourth-grade reading, and Mississippi is ninth.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted Texas\u2019s<\/a> dominance in green energy over California, noting the Lone Star State\u2019s policies allow for faster installation of solar<\/a>. He said Texas\u2019s installation timeline is about three to four months.<\/p>\n

Maher expressed his own frustrations with the solar panel installation process, saying that it was about \u201ca thousand days faster\u201d in Texas than it was in California.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would have been quicker to build a windmill,\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow does a state with no pro-climate<\/a> policies produce better climate results than a state where here, we have so much better bumper stickers on our Priuses,\u201d Maher said, showing a photo of a Toyota Prius with a California license plate and a \u201cSave Our Planet\u201d bumper sticker.<\/p>\n

Maher claimed that Texas is able to make these advancements because \u201cyou\u2019re allowed to build there,\u201d noting the state\u2019s relaxed policies on development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause every third person in Texas isn\u2019t someone whose job it is to make sure nothing gets done,\u201d Maher said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He called out Democrats for falling behind in issues they view as the backbone of their party<\/a>.<\/p>\n
