{"id":339276,"date":"2026-05-30T17:29:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T17:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/339276\/"},"modified":"2026-05-30T17:29:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T17:29:18","slug":"family-of-oakland-homicide-victim-19-raising-money-to-send-his-body-home-to-guatemala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/339276\/","title":{"rendered":"Family of Oakland homicide victim, 19, raising money to send his body home to Guatemala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family of a 19-year-old Oakland man who was stabbed to death last weekend is trying to raise money to bring his body back to Guatemala.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aldon Rochel Mata Cardona was stabbed May 23 at about 6:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of East 19th Street, according to the Oakland Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cardona was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police didn\u2019t provide any other details about his killing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, a family friend created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/help-bring-aldon-rochel-mata-cardona-home-to-guatemala\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/help-bring-aldon-rochel-mata-cardona-home-to-guatemala\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a GoFundMe page<\/a> to help raise money to send Cardona back home for burial.
