A man was found guilty of armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance Thursday and the jury determined that he threatened witnesses not to testify in trial, the Sacramento County District Attorney\u2019s Office said in a news release<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n Benoise Wade Jr., 40, who pled not guilty to the charges, is facing a maximum potential sentence of 31 years to life, according to the DA\u2019s Office. The jury found the use of a weapon in the robbery and the prevention or dissuasion of witnesses from testifying as aggravating factors to Wade\u2019s robbery conviction.<\/p>\n Wade is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail while he awaits sentencing.<\/p>\n On Dec. 15, 2023, Sacramento police officers responded to a reported home robbery but initially could not locate a firearm or shell casings, though they found what appeared to be a bullet hole and a Glock issued BB gun in the bedroom where the robbery occurred, the release said.<\/p>\n Wade allegedly shot one round on the ground before taking a man\u2019s cash and cellphone. Prosecutors said Wade later tried to persuade the victim to clear his name to law enforcement.<\/p>\n Prosecutors said Wade had prior convictions for child molestation and robbery as well as other potential aggravating factors.
