{"id":343274,"date":"2026-06-02T19:05:41","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/343274\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T19:05:41","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:05:41","slug":"69-arrested-homicides-solved-in-huge-central-valley-gang-bust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/343274\/","title":{"rendered":"69 Arrested, Homicides Solved in Huge Central Valley Gang Bust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FRESNO, CA (KMJ)\u00a0 California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni announced the results of \u201cOperation Hands Down\u201d Monday, which zeroed in on criminal street gangs in the Central Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators say they solved two homicides, made 69 felony arrests, and seized 73 firearms, ammunition, methamphetamine, cocaine and lethal amounts of fentanyl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-91263\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/operation-hands-down-arrest-chart-300x232.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">In March 2026, law enforcement agencies began an investigation into a criminal street gang operating in Fresno, Tulare, and Madera Counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">The investigation found an extensive criminal conspiracy in which Suereno and Mexican Mafia gang members and associates orchestrated various crimes, including drug and firearms trafficking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-91262\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/guns-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">This was a joint operation with the Fresno County Sheriff\u2019s Office, FBI, Homeland Security, the California Department of Corrections, the CHP and police departments in Kingsburg, Sanger, Reedley and Selma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe collective work done by all law enforcement agencies in this operation will undoubtedly improve the safety and overall quality of life for residents in Fresno County, particularly those living in our smaller rural communities,\u201d\u00a0said Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-91264\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/meth-and-gun-seizure-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">The case will be prosecuted by Fresno County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">\u201cThrough a unified front with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, we have successfully removed hazardous drugs and weapons from our streets while holding bad actors accountable,\u201d\u00a0said Attorney General Rob Bonta.\u00a0\u201cThis strategic and focused operation dismantled organized criminal organizations and directly prevented impending acts of violence. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our dedicated DOJ agents and partner agencies for their tireless commitment to public safety. Today, we send an unmistakable message: Organized crime cannot withstand the power of rigorous, collaborative law enforcement.
