KBAK Bakerfield Now<\/p>\n<p>Police confirmed that at least one hostage was being held during the incident. Negotiators were communicating with the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the threat, law enforcement shut down a large section of downtown Bakersfield.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said the area bounded by 18th Street and Truxtun Avenue, and between Chester Avenue and H Street.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Bakersfield said it was aware of an ongoing incident at a private property near several municipal facilities.<\/p>\n<p>As a precaution, City Hall North, City Hall South, the Development Services Building and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/23\/us-news\/bakersfield-police-release-audio-debunking-viral-tiktok\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bakersfield Police Headquarters<\/a> were placed on lockdown until further notice.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.77777778;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39560753\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/police-negotiate-hostage-situation-chase-129532627.jpg\" alt=\"Police officers and motorcycles on a street blocked with yellow tape, with a Chase Bank building in the background.\" class=\"wp-image-39560753\"  \/>The City of Bakersfield said it was aware of an ongoing incident at a private property near several municipal facilities.
