The backstory: The museum has led the event for years, drawing young bat lovers and seasoned surveyors alike. The count spans several sites, including sites underneath freeway bridges and along the San Gabriel River.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s new: This year, the event is open to Angelenos 14 and over, a change from last year\u2019s minimum age of 10. For kids ages 10 to 13, the museum will host an education event about bat roosting at the end of the summer. Those interested can contact the museum here<\/a>.<\/p>\n How can I join? There is a waitlist for the count on June 13<\/a> and June 14<\/a>. But there’s still a chance to help. Free registration for the August count will open next month, according to organizers. <\/p>\n
