FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Millions of Central Valley and California residents have cast their ballots for several key races across the region and state. Action News has live coverage from across California as election results start to come in.<\/p>\n

The race for California State Senate District 14 seat<\/p>\n

A key race that’s being watched across California is playing out in Fresno County.<\/p>\n

Candidates Democratic Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria, Democratic Sanger City Councilmember Esmeralda Hurtado and Republican Merced City Councilmember Darin DuPont are all vying for California’s State Senate District 14’s seat.<\/p>\n

A key race that’s being watched across California is playing out in Fresno County.<\/p>\n

Assemblywoman Esmerelda Soria addressed her supporters in central Fresno on Tuesday, pleased with the initial results, adding that her numbers looked good.<\/p>\n

She was full of energy as she said she is looking forward to November.<\/p>\n

District 14 stretches from Merced to Coalinga and includes Los Banos, parts of Fresno and Sanger.<\/p>\n

Karen Bass advances to November runoff for LA mayor, ABC News projects<\/p>\n

With just under 50% of the expected votes counted, ABC News projects that incumbent Karen Bass will advance to the November runoff for Los Angeles mayor.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night, Bass was leading the pack with 37% of the vote. She would need over 50% of the vote to outright win the election and avoid a runoff.<\/p>\n

ABC News has not yet projected who Bass’ opponent will be in the November election. At last check, Spencer Pratt was in second place with 30% of the vote, followed by Nithya Raman with 21%.<\/p>\n

Fresno County officials say more than 15,000 voters opted to cast their ballots in person on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Another 5,000 voted in person during the early voting period.<\/p>\n

Officials are still working to calculate the totals for vote-by-mail ballots, which they expect will be equally as high.<\/p>\n

Fresno County Clerk and Registrar of Voters James Kus says it won’t be until Saturday or even next Tuesday when the majority of ballots are counted.<\/p>\n

Democratic State Senator Scott Wiener advances to the general election for California 11th Congressional District in a bid for Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi’s seat. As of 9:45 p.m., he has 40,017 votes.<\/p>\n

San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, who was endorsed by Emerita Pelosi, is in second place with 26,443 votes.<\/p>\n

Political newcomer Saikat Chakrabarti is in third with 13,154 votes.<\/p>\n
