FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 Firefighters are battling a large fire at an industrial building in downtown Fresno that sent thick black smoke into the air Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The fire was reported just after 3 p.m. near L and M streets. <\/p>\n
Multiple 911 callers reported seeing smoke coming from the building, and responding crews could see a large column of black smoke while en route.<\/p>\n
When firefighters arrived, they found the warehouse fully involved in flames and quickly moved into a defensive firefighting operation due to the intensity of the fire and concerns about a partial building collapse.<\/p>\n
The building is divided between two tenants, the Screamin Demons Motorcycle Club and Los Alamos Distributing.<\/p>\n
The Demons lost 20 years of club history. <\/p>\n
Fire crews are working to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.<\/p>\n
A neighboring building has been evacuated as a precaution.<\/p>\n
Officials say the fire has also damaged power lines and caused pressurized cylinders inside the building to explode, creating additional hazards for firefighters.<\/p>\n
A second alarm was called, bringing 46 firefighters to the scene.<\/p>\n
No injuries have been reported, and it is not yet clear whether anyone was inside the building when the fire started.<\/p>\n
Several roads in the area, including portions of L Street, have been closed due to downed power lines and emergency response activity. <\/p>\n
Railroad tracks nearby have also been impacted.<\/p>\n
Residents are being asked to avoid the area while crews continue working to bring the fire under control.<\/p>\n
