{"id":347642,"date":"2026-06-05T06:02:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T06:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/347642\/"},"modified":"2026-06-05T06:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T06:02:08","slug":"berkeley-man-charged-with-girlfriends-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/347642\/","title":{"rendered":"Berkeley man charged with girlfriend\u2019s murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERKELEY \u2014 The boyfriend of a woman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/06\/03\/boyfriend-arrested-in-berkeley-womans-death-after-apparent-physical-assault\/amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">found dead earlier this week<\/a> inside her Berkeley apartment has been charged with murder, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Damarcus David Jones, 28, of Berkeley, is also facing a probation violation based on the murder charge, according to the Alameda County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old victim was found dead inside her apartment in the 1900 block of California Street around noon Saturday. The Berkeley Police Department said she appeared to have died after a physical assault. Authorities have not released her name.<\/p>\n<p>Jones was identified as a suspect in the killing and arrested Tuesday in Dixon, California.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the suspect and victim were in a relationship.
