{"id":348787,"date":"2026-06-06T00:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T00:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/348787\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T00:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T00:06:09","slug":"man-charged-with-killing-oakley-man-in-oakland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/348787\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged with killing Oakley man in Oakland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OAKLAND \u2014 Prosecutors have filed murder and gun charges against a man accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastbaytimes.com\/2026\/01\/16\/oakley-resident-shot-and-killed-in-oakland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">killing an Oakley resident<\/a> here last December, court records show.<\/p>\n<p>Maurice Davis, 27, is being held without bail on charges of murder and gun possession by a felon. He is set to enter a plea at his next court date, scheduled for July 14, records.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged Davis shot and killed George Ndikum Ngwanyia Jr. around 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2025, at E.C. Reems Court in Oakland. Police haven\u2019t released the suspected motive but Ngwanyia\u2019s Instagram page \u2014 taken over by a family member after his death \u2014 suggests he was killed by \u201cpeople he called friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davis was arrested in mid-March and postponed his arraignment several times since then, court records show.
