The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Sacramento is warning northern California residents of elevated fire weather conditions in the Sacramento valley through Sunday.

A report sent out by the agency Friday relayed that the elevated conditions are due to breezy winds and low humidity. The driest and breeziest of conditions will be seen in the northern Sacramento Valley.

Folks are being reminded by NWS to avoid outdoor burning of any kind, properly dispose of cigarettes and matches, avoid power equipment that create sparks, make sure no vehicle parts—including chains—drag on the ground, and do not park your vehicle over dry grass or vegetation.

Heat impacts to come with fire weather

Heat impacts for the valley over this period will provide a moderate risk for heat-related illnesses for pets, livestock, and those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without adequate cooling or hydration resources.

Through Sunday, there will be periods of breezy winds, low humidity and drying fuels which will lead to the elevated fire conditions.

A weak weather system will bring breezy south winds and chances for light precipitation Monday-Tuesday and gusty north winds combined with low humidity will lead to elevated fire weather conditions in the valley late next week.

What that means locally is that while Friday temperatures reached into the 80s for Grass Valley and Nevada City, things will change over coming days.

Cooler weather shift on the way

Saturday and Sunday temperatures should keep to the mid 70s, but once Monday arrives things are looking to change. Monday’s high is expected to hover about 70 degrees while clouds move in and create partially cloudy skies, which are forecast to result in a chance of rain both Monday night and Tuesday. Chances of rain Monday night are at about 20 percent. Overnight lows should remain in the low 50s.

For higher elevations, showers in mountain areas Monday and Tuesday may lead to slick roads and delayed commutes, though the chance is low.

Skies should clear up Tuesday night, but that won’t be the end of the weather-filled week. NWS’ forecasts include gusty winds throughout the region again on Thursday, with a 47 percent chance of winds reaching up to 30 miles per hour in Yuba City and at lower chances through the valley.

The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Sacramento is warning northern California residents of elevated fire weather conditions…

[32
121,123,122
post-349418","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sacramento","tag-sacramento","tag-sacramento-headlines","tag-sacramento-news
["GET
