Zendaya’s Bay Area bookstore tour appears to be continuing.

The Oakland-born actor recently stopped by Rakestraw Books in Danville, where she shopped, talked books with staff and posed for a playful photo with two titles tied to her upcoming movie projects.

“We had a very special visitor at Rakestraw Books recently,” the independent bookstore wrote in an Instagram post shared Saturday, June 6. “Zendaya stopped by to shop and chat books with us! We were thrilled to help her find some good reads and loved getting some recommendations from her!”

In the photo, Zendaya holds Frank Herbert’s “Dune: Messiah” and Homer’s “The Odyssey,” a wink to two high-profile projects on her calendar.

Zendaya is expected to return as Chani in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three,” due Dec. 18. She is also part of the cast of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” which opens July 17 and stars Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which reunites Zendaya and Holland in Sony’s Marvel franchise, is scheduled to open July 31.

Notably, Zendaya appears to be holding Emily Wilson’s translation of “The Odyssey,” a widely discussed 2017 edition that made Wilson the first woman to publish a complete English translation of Homer’s epic.

Nolan has referenced Wilson’s translation as one readers may want to pick up before his film adaptation.

The Danville visit comes shortly after another bookish Bay Area outing for Zendaya.

Last month, she visited Green Apple Books on San Francisco’s Clement Street with a small group that included her “Euphoria” co-star Hunter Schafer, according to employees who spoke with the Chronicle.

That same afternoon, the group also stopped at Foggy Notion and Pasta Supply Co., where chef-owner Anthony Strong said they ordered “a whole round of pastas.” Zendaya also bought a tin of worm salt before leaving.

Rakestraw Books, at 3 Railroad Ave. in Danville, has been part of the San Ramon Valley literary scene since 1973. The store describes itself as “The Bookstore in Danville” and has long hosted author events, children’s programs and community gatherings.

The store said Zendaya was “lovely” and thanked her for supporting independent bookstores.

The low-key visit fits a familiar pattern for the actor, who has continued to return to the Bay Area between major film and television projects. Zendaya grew up in Oakland, attended Oakland School for the Arts and has frequently drawn attention for giving shout-outs to local businesses.

In March, during a fan interaction at the Rome premiere of “The Drama,” she named Arizmendi Bakery on Lakeshore Avenue as a favorite Oakland place to eat. In May, Elle reported that Zendaya and Holland had adopted a dog from an Oakland shelter.

“Thank you Zendaya for being so lovely and for your love of books and support of independent bookstores!” Rakestraw wrote.
