FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 A new pop-up restaurant with a gothic twist made its debut in Fresno, drawing both meat-eaters and vegans to Strummer\u2019s Bar in the Tower District, on Saturday, June 6. <\/p>\n
\u201cEverything was really amazing,\u201d Amanda P., a customer, said. “The fries are delicious too.” <\/p>\n
Badd Burgers offers a menu designed to appeal to different diets, including vegan versions of its meat options. <\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to do a mirrored menu of every single burger just so everyone could eat,\u201d Co-owner Tommy Marquez said. \u201cSome people have actually told us that our vegan burgers taste even better than some of the big ones.\u201d<\/p>\n
The brand started in Texas and has recently moved to Fresno. <\/p>\n
Marquez said the concept grew from his own interest in making burgers. <\/p>\n
\u201cI just started making burgers and I really liked it. It\u2019s just fun and there\u2019s the sky\u2019s limit on creativity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
That creativity also shows up in the restaurant\u2019s gothic theme, which Marquez said is partially rooted in his background in music. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been a musician for like 25 years,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s based off of the music. It\u2019s based off of the fashion. It\u2019s (even) based off our names, (which) are a little like sinister…. we have one called ‘The Heathen.’\u201d<\/p>\n
The pop-up coincided with a live performance at the venue by Agent Orange, a punk band.<\/p>\n
Marquez said he hopes the event will be the first of many in Fresno.<\/p>\n
