Planet Vegan Burger sold out of its signature Galaxy Fries, completing 140 orders from its PV Express food truck during one of the biggest nights yet for Brad Jaurique Promotions\u2019 R&B Night Out: In the Park Edition at the Rotary Amphitheater on Saturday, May 30.<\/p>\n
Co-owner Inez Hill, who operated the truck during the event, said demand was steady throughout the night \u2014 and the Galaxy Fries were gone roughly 10 minutes before the final performance ended.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were very much prepared. We had boxes on boxes on boxes of fries \u2014 so many,\u201d Hill said. \u201cWe prepared because we knew that Galaxy Fries and buffalo chicken fries sell out at these events. People like loaded fries and finger foods like the chicken tenders, the chicken nuggets, and fries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fresno famous fries<\/p>\n
The Galaxy Fries \u2014 waffle fries topped with crumbled vegan ground beef, caramelized onions, cilantro, green onions and a signature jalape\u00f1o aioli \u2014 were the truck\u2019s top seller of the night.<\/p>\n
Hill co-owns the business with her brother, Michael McElroy. Planet Vegan Burger has offered vegan versions of fast-food favorites from its brick-and-mortar location on North Palm Avenue since January 2024, but mobile food service is where the family-owned business got its start.<\/p>\n
The company launched as a food trailer in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted operations. An explosion involving the trailer later injured two people, including co-owner Joe Ellis. The restaurant opened roughly 18 months after that.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s event ranked among the business\u2019s biggest yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is about the third-largest event we have been a part of so far besides Tequila Fest or Taco Throwdown,\u201d Hill said.<\/p>\n
Concert sets sales record<\/p>\n
The R&B Night Out drew about 3,500 people and also set a sales record for promoter Brad Jaurique, he told The Business Journal. The musical lineup included Mike Jones, Ray J, MC Magic, Amanda Perez, Jacquees and Bobby V., also known as Bobby Valentino. Local performers Ralph Edwards of Fresno and Reedley-based MiaMei also appeared. Edwards finished as runner-up on Season 28 of NBC\u2019s singing competition \u201cThe Voice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hogg Pitt also sold barbecue plates from the upper level of the amphitheater. Radio personalities Carmen and Jizzo from B95 and Danny Salas from 103.7 The Beat entertained the crowd between sets.<\/p>\n
Following the show, attendees were invited to an official after-party at The Standard Restaurant & Lounge in the Riverview Shopping Center across from Woodward Park, running from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.<\/p>\n
