The Sacramento Bee covered a range of top stories over the weekend, from a plaza renaming campaign to possible campaign finance violations.

Here’s a quick digest to catch you up:

Sacramento is launching a community engagement campaign to rename Cesar Chavez Plaza following sexual abuse allegations against the late civil rights leader, with an online survey running from June 12 to July 24. The City Council is slated to adopt the new name in October or November.

The Midtown Farmers Market is featuring a broad mix of musical guests throughout June, including jazz, singer-songwriter, DJ and pop/funk/neo soul acts for free every Saturday. Special events include a Pride weekend celebration, a Juneteenth celebration with free sea moss lemonade and a vintage vehicle showcase.

The Sacramento Bricks & Minifigs location in the Pocket neighborhood will close for at least one week starting June 13 after employees received threats of physical harm. The threats are linked to viral videos investigating a separate Oregon franchise over a disputed $200,000 Star Wars Lego collection, though the Sacramento store had no involvement.

This report was produced with the assistance of a proprietary tool powered by artificial intelligence based on our own originally reported, written and published content.
