FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — An innocent bystander has been taken to the hospital after two groups opened fire at each other in a central Fresno shopping center.<\/p>\n
Fresno Police say at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, they received multiple 911 calls of shots fired in the area of DD’s Discounts on Ashlan Avenue and Griffith Way. Officers also received a 14-round ShotSpotter notification in the same area.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found one person described as being in their late teens suffering from a gunshot wound to their foot.<\/p>\n
Investigators say the victim was not a part of the shooting and was walking with another person into the DD’s Discounts at the time.<\/p>\n
The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.<\/p>\n
Witnesses told police that at least one person from two separate groups of people began shooting at each other. Authorities have not determined what led up to the gunfire.<\/p>\n
All individuals involved in the shooting fled on foot shortly after.<\/p>\n
At least three people have been detained and one of the detainees is believed to be involved in the shooting.<\/p>\n
