The leaders of two of Fresno’s largest nonprofits are warning that charities across the Central Valley are facing financial pressure that could lead to service reductions, layoffs and closures if conditions do not improve.

Matthew Dilldine, CEO of the Fresno Mission, and Kim Dilldine, co-CEO of the Central California Food Bank, recently released a joint video and editorial raising concerns about the challenges nonprofits are facing.

We are noticing more and more nonprofits coming to us, or that we hear about, that are laying off staff…that are really concerned about whether or not they’re going to be able to operate,

Dilldine told FOX26.

The warning comes as California nonprofits face broader challenges, including regulatory burdens, delayed government reimbursements, workforce shortages and high operating costs.

“The economy is really killing nonprofits,” he said. “I firmly believe, unless something changes, you’re going to see closures of nonprofits like you’ve never seen before.”

Dilldine said the impact could extend beyond nonprofits themselves.

“We’re going to see spikes in homelessness and people on food lines and people and kids not having places to go, because this is what’s happening right now,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Dilldine encouraged residents to support local charities.

“Your donation really matters,” Dilldine said. “Not to the organization, it really matters to the person who’s eventually going to get help with that check.”

The leaders of two of Fresno’s largest nonprofits are warning that charities across the Central Valley are facing…

[31
112,114,113
post-354314","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fresno","tag-fresno","tag-fresno-headlines","tag-fresno-news
["GET
