FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — The family of the two sisters who were killed in a Fresno County crash earlier this week is speaking out about the devastating tragedy.

The deadly crash happened Tuesday night on Belmont west of Brawley Avenue.

The highway patrol says the driver, 21-year-old Angelina Nino, was speeding when she failed to stop at the stop sign on Brawley.

The car abruptly turned and went off the road, killing Nino.

Her 14-year-old sister, Rayla Piedra, was rushed to the hospital, where she died.

A 27-year-old man in the car was also injured and hospitalized.

Lorraine Quinonez, an aunt of the two sisters, spoke to Action News about how heartbroken the family is.

“So the weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls and we all helped raise them, so we all had a portion with them, I’m just trying to be as strong as I can for my sister,” Quinonez says.

The aunt says Rayla was preparing to celebrate her 15th birthday on November 8.

If you want to help the family lay the girls to rest, we will have a link to their GoFundMe here.
