The Kansas City Current<\/a> closed out a record-breaking regular season with a 2-1 win over the San Diego Wave<\/a> at CPKC Stadium on Sunday, the NWSL<\/a>\u2018s Decision Day when all 14 teams were in action and results set the seeding for the eight-team playoffs.<\/p>\n

San Diego started strong, opening the scoring in the eighth minute through forward Dudinha, who netted her fifth goal in as many games against the 2025 NWSL Shield winners. <\/p>\n

The play began with Dudinha cutting through the defense and laying the ball off to Perle Morroni, who slipped a pass back into her path. The Brazilian took a first-time shot that slipped through the legs of Kansas City goalkeeper Lorena to give the Wave the early 1-0 lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Wave held onto the advantage until the 54th minute when the Current earned a free kick at the edge of the box. Kansas City\u2019s Debinha stepped up and delivered a curling strike into the back of the net to level the match.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The victory gave the Current a final regular-season record of 21-3-2 and the team set single-season records for total points (65), wins (21), goals conceded (13), and shutouts (16). <\/p>\n

The top-seeded Current will host eighth-seed Gotham FC in the quarterfinals next weekend.<\/p>\n

The Wave (10-8-7) will travel to face the Portland Thorns on Nov. 9 at Providence Park in the quarterfinals.\u00a0Kickoff is set for noon Pacific time, with the match broadcast nationally on ABC.<\/p>\n
