{"id":360050,"date":"2026-06-14T04:38:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T04:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/360050\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T04:38:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T04:38:09","slug":"oakland-news-fire-destroys-abandoned-building-on-international-blvd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/360050\/","title":{"rendered":"Oakland news: Fire destroys abandoned building on International Blvd."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/location\/california\/bay-area\/east-bay\/alameda-county\/oakland\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oakland<\/a> building with a history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/tag\/fires\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fires<\/a> went up in smoke again on June 13, threatening nearby structures before firefighters put it out.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday afternoon, the Oakland Fire Department received multiple calls for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/news\/crime-public-safety\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a blaze<\/a> at a single-story building at 9029 International Blvd. \u201cWe got multiple calls en route, and it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DZi5GuHP_8_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">heavily involved on our arrival<\/a>,\u201d said Battalion Chief Michael Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>The building is located near 90th Ave. and businesses like Reina\u2019s Restaurant and the East 14th Smoke, Vape &amp; Gift Shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt had several previous fires in it before, and had been boarded up and abandoned,\u201d Hughes said, adding that he didn\u2019t know what the building\u2019s original purpose was. \u201cIt\u2019s been boarded up for so long I can\u2019t recall \u2014 it\u2019s been years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The blaze grew into a two-alarm fire and one of the exterior walls collapsed. There were initial exposure concerns to nearby structures before firefighters were able to contain the fire. They were still working Saturday evening putting out hot spots.<\/p>\n<p>There were no injuries or fatalities reported.
