Alameda police said officers and East Bay Regional Park District police were at a large gathering along Shoreline Drive on Thursday night when they heard gunshots. Officers found two victims, a juvenile and an adult, in the 300 block of Park Street, police said.<\/p>\n
Both victims were taken to hospitals for treatment. Police did not release their conditions or announce any arrests.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened near Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, a popular waterfront park on Alameda\u2019s South Shore.<\/p>\n
Police said the investigation remained active and that no additional information would be released immediately \u201cto protect the integrity of the case.\u201d<\/p>\n
The shooting followed previous warnings<\/a> from Alameda police about unpermitted \u201cbeach takeover\u201d parties<\/a> advertised on social media and aimed at young people. In March, police said East Bay Regional Park District police, supported by Alameda officers, would increase staffing at Crown Beach because of concerns about minors\u2019 safety and supervision.<\/p>\n One previously advertised event promoted an \u201cassassin\u201d-style game using water guns and water balloons, police said at the time.
