(FOX26) \u2014 Thirteen people were arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI checkpoint in Fresno on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The checkpoint was held at Belmont Avenue and Clark Street from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/crime\/driver-arrested-for-dui-hit-and-run-after-3-vehicle-crash-alluvial-fowler-clovis-kenneth-phelps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Driver arrested for DUI, hit-and-run after 3-vehicle crash in Clovis<\/a><\/p>\n<p>268 vehicles were contacted during the 6-hour operation.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the 13 DUI arrests, another 42 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended\/revoked license.<\/p>\n<p>DUI checkpoint locations are based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. <\/p>\n<p>The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.<\/p>\n<p>The next DUI enforcement operation will be a DUI saturation patrol scheduled for this Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
