If the Kings sign Achiuwa, a corresponding roster move would be required, as Sacramento currently has 15 players under standard contracts.<\/p>\n
Russell Westbrook\u2019s deal for this season isn\u2019t fully guaranteed, but the future Hall of Fame guard has played well to start his Kings tenure. Second-year forward Issac Jones (non-guaranteed deal), forward Dario Saric, and wing Doug McDermott are other players who could become expendable if a deal is reached with Achiuwa.<\/p>\n
Achiuwa, the 20th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, averaged 6.3 rebounds per game over two seasons with the Knicks (2023-25). The Memphis product was on a training camp deal with Miami before being waived on October 18th.<\/p>\n
For a team that is currently searching for upside in the frontcourt, adding Achiuwa is a low-risk move for Sacramento. Domantas Sabonis (13.6 rebounds per game)needs help on the glass, as Westbrook\u2019s 4.8 boards per game come in at second on the Kings\u2019 rebounding leaderboard.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Sacramento Kings\u00a0are coming off a dramatic win in Milwaukee, and their next goal is ending a losing streak against the\u00a0Denver Nuggets.<\/p>\n
Sacramento has lost five straight to the 2023 NBA champs but has a chance to snap that streak Monday night in Denver.<\/p>\n
The Kings haven\u2019t beaten the Nuggets since Feb. 14, 2024, a 102-98 win in Denver. They have a little inside knowledge in their camp, thanks to Russell Westbrook, who played for the Nuggets last season.<\/p>\n
Westbrook signed with Sacramento late in the preseason and has already provided a spark off the bench.<\/p>\n
He scored 12 points and had 10 assists in 34 minutes during the 135-133 victory over the Bucks, and he took on guarding Giannis Antetokounmpo when Domantas Sabonis was in foul trouble. Westbrook was also one of the Sacramento players to step in and defend Sabonis during a confrontation with Milwaukee\u2019s Bobby Portis.<\/p>\n
It is the kind of fight Kings head coach Doug Christie was happy to see and hopes will continue Monday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, I\u2019m about that life,\u201d Christie said. \u201cThat\u2019s exactly what I want to see because, ultimately, we don\u2019t find out about each other until it gets rocky anyway. When things are good and sweet and things are going your way \u2026 it\u2019s when it gets bumpy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat are we made of? What are we willing to do? They ran in and made sure he was good, so you check that box. You don\u2019t let anybody get up in your face. Check that box. And then you respond. Check that box. So, for them, well done, but that\u2019s one. There will be another one coming when we get to Denver.\u201d<\/p>\n
