{"id":363101,"date":"2026-06-16T18:49:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T18:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/363101\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T18:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T18:49:07","slug":"report-defenceman-john-carlson-wont-re-sign-with-ducks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/363101\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Defenceman John Carlson won&#8217;t re-sign with Ducks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The veteran defenceman does not intend to re-sign with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/anaheim-ducks\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"anaheim-ducks\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a>, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7366274\/2026\/06\/16\/nhl-rumblings-carlson-rielly-hischier\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> on Tuesday, per Carlson&#8217;s agent Rick Curran.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(Carlson&#8217;s) preference is to return and play in the East, closer to family and the familiarity with it,&#8221; Curran told LeBrun.<\/p>\n<p>Curran said he discussed an extension with Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek, but it didn&#8217;t work out.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson, 36, played 16 regular-season games with the Ducks after a surprising deadline deal by the Washington Capitals.<\/p>\n<p>He potted four goals and 14 points before notching six assists in 12 post-season contests, helping the Ducks dispatch the two-time Western Conference-champion Edmonton Oilers in Round 1.<\/p>\n<p>The Natick, Mass., native has played 1,159 NHL games with the Capitals and Ducks, tallying 170 goals and 785 points.
