FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) \u2014\u00a0The Fresno County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution to declare the month of June as Traditional Nuclear Family Month on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
It passed in a 3-2 vote after a tense, hour-long discussion involving both community and board members.<\/p>\n
Supervisors Brian Pacheco and Luis Chavez were the two dissenting votes.<\/p>\n
During public comment, 12 people spoke in favor of the resolution and 15 spoke against it.<\/p>\n
Everyone was limited to one minute to speak.<\/p>\n
Critics say the resolution\u2019s language excludes LGBTQ+ families.<\/p>\n
Chairman Garry Bredefeld, who sponsored the resolution, says it doesn\u2019t prevent anyone from celebrating Pride Month during June.<\/p>\n
Fresno County now joins several state and local governments in designating June as Traditional Nuclear Family Month.<\/p>\n
