A day of service and community is underway Wednesday in San Francisco as Project Homeless Connect hosts its latest event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.<\/p>\n
The organization is marking its 85th milestone event, bringing together services and resources for unhoused residents and others in need.<\/p>\n
The goal is to connect people with support under one roof, including medical care, housing support and navigation, legal aid, employment assistance and more.<\/p>\n
“Is the city doing better? Yes. Is there progress? Yes. But there’s more work to be done and we pride ourselves on being a partner,” said the executive director of Project Homeless Connect.<\/p>\n
One woman taking part in the event is paying it forward. Lorelei Webster is volunteering for the fourth time after experiencing homelessness and receiving services herself.<\/p>\n
“I hope they walk away with a smile and hope in their heart because you don’t want them feeling dejected or that nothing will work out for them,” Webster said. “It can work out for them.”<\/p>\n
