Hundreds of shoppers lined up outside local Trader Joe\u2019s stores on Wednesday morning, hours before the opening, as the limited striped mini totes hit shelves.<\/p>\n
The highly anticipated bags come in a set of four colors: blue, pink, green and beige. They are the latest colorway from the grocery brand, following the release of its original, pastel, and Halloween-themed mini totes starting in 2024, which swept social media and became a status symbol among the younger generation.<\/p>\n
The mini totes are priced at $2.99 each in stores, but their resale price online can reach as high as $20, according to eBay as of Wednesday at noon.<\/p>\n
June 17 is the \u201cnational release day\u201d for this new set of mini totes, according to Nakia Rohde, public relations manager for Trader Joe\u2019s. The brand declined to share the inventory levels and sales figures for the product, but said each store determines how many bags they order from a limited quantity available, Rohde said.<\/p>\n
At 8 a.m. Wednesday, when one of the two local Trader Joe\u2019s on North Friant Road opened its doors, the line of shoppers already snaked around to the back of the building where Trader Joe\u2019s, Petco, and Handel\u2019s Homemade Ice Cream are located, among other retail at Park Crossing Shopping Center.<\/p>\n
The store initially limited purchases to four mini totes per household, but later changed the limit to two to accommodate the steady stream of customers joining the line.<\/p>\n
The products were sold out before 11 a.m., according to the crew member at Fresno\u2019s Trader Joe\u2019s. The store said it had ordered another delivery for Thursday, but it was unclear whether the order will be fulfilled.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a limited-time product, so it will be determined store by store,\u201d Rohde told The Bee. \u201cWithin the Fresno community, where we have two stores, there could be a different number of bags at Fresno versus the Clovis one.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rohde said customers who are interested in the product should contact crew members in their neighborhood Trader Joe\u2019s store.<\/p>\n
