OAKLAND \u2014 A man found dead with traumatic injuries on an East Oakland street Saturday morning was the victim of a hit-and-run traffic collision, authorities said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Alameda County Coroner\u2019s Bureau is still trying to identify the man, believed to be a transient, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The man was found about 8:43 a.m. Saturday outside in the 4700 block of East 12th Street, which is part of the Melrose district.\u00a0 He had major trauma to different areas of his body, authorities said.<\/p>\n
An autopsy determined the injuries were consistent with being hit by a vehicle, police said.<\/p>\n
Authorities are trying to determine what kind of vehicle hit the man and who was driving.<\/p>\n
The death is the 15th traffic related fatality investigated by Oakland police this year, authorities said. Last year the city had 23 traffic related deaths the entire year.<\/p>\n
