{"id":366197,"date":"2026-06-18T20:36:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T20:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/366197\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T20:36:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T20:36:10","slug":"cyclist-killed-in-crash-involving-oakland-county-road-commission-vehicle-in-ferndale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/366197\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclist killed in crash involving Oakland County Road Commission vehicle in Ferndale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Oakland County Sheriff\u2019s Office is on the scene investigating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">FERNDALE, MICH. \u2013 Emergency personnel are on the scene of a deadly crash involving an e-bike and an Oakland County Road Commission vehicle in Ferndale Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The crash occurred just after 1 p.m. on northbound Woodward Avenue near College Street, a few blocks south of Nine Mile Road. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Witnesses report seeing an Oakland County Road Commission vehicle strike the cyclist while they were riding in the bike lane in front of the vacant Tim Horton\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cWe were very saddened to learn of the crash involving one of our drivers and a bicyclist,\u201d reads a statement from the road commission. \u201cOur hearts go out to both the family of the cyclist and to our driver.
