(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 UPDATE (5:50 P.M.): CalFire has identified the fire as the &#8220;Star Fire.&#8221; According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fire.ca.gov\/incidents\/2026\/6\/19\/star-fire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CalFire<\/a>, the fire has burned 300 acres.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>At least one person is dead after a crash on Highway 58 near General Beale Road Friday afternoon. The crash ignited a fire with smoke visible for miles.<\/p>\n<p>The California Highway Patrol said on Friday, June 19, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m., there was a report of a solo-vehicle crash on westbound Highway 58, east of General Beale Road.<\/p>\n<p>The CHP\u2019s website said the vehicle went down the mountain and landed on the roadway. The CHP&#8217;s website said it was reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds, in and out of lanes, and lost control.<\/p>\n<p>According to the website, a person, identified as a male, was ejected. The coroner\u2019s office was later called.<\/p>\n<p>The website also said the vehicle and the hillside were on fire.
