The proposal, dubbed Homefulness 2, aims to provide a \u2018small housing project\u2019 for low to no-income individuals. The group entered the real estate market in 2011 after purchasing a duplex at 8032 MacArthur Boulevard for $89,000. The project, dubbed HOMEfulness 1, eventually expanded through renovations and new construction, providing housing for 21 individuals as of mid-2024. Their plans for a second housing project, HOMEfulness 2, began in 2021, after they purchased 7600 MacArthur Boulevard for $350,000.<\/p>\n<p>The project application looks to build a two-story structure using shipping containers, producing 11 efficiency-sized apartments and approximately 770 square feet of office floor area. Parking will be included for four bicycles. Currently, the site is occupied by two shipping container units.
