Four fun in the sun things to do on the North Coast<\/p>\n

The Oregon Coast is naturally packed full of fun summer activities \u2014 there\u2019s the beach. And the beach. And another beach. But if you\u2019re looking for a break from sand and seagulls, there are other fun-in-the-sun activities along the North Coast, if you just know where to look. Here are four to get you started.<\/p>\n
Putt-putt golf, go-karts and bikes<\/p>\n
A three-for-one amusement complex in Long Beach, Washington features mini-golf, go-karts and electric bikes so you can take your pick, or try all three.<\/p>\n
Located in downtown Long Beach, Fun Beach Go-Kart Speedway features an 18-hole mini-golf course with a go-kart speedway right next to it. If you feel more like a bike ride, you have a choice there, too: both pedal bikes and electric bikes are available to rent.<\/p>\n
The complex is located just a couple of miles from Long Beach at 915 Pacific Ave. S., so it\u2019s pretty close for any North Coasters and their visiting friends and family. You can even check out the beach either before or after your golf\/go-kart\/bike ride session.<\/p>\n
Since miniature golf first became an attraction in the 1920s, coastal towns began building mini-golf courses as additions to their boardwalks and arcades.<\/p>\n
Prices are: $13 for a single go-kart ride, $18 for doubles; mini-golf is $10 for 18 holes. If you are up for a bike ride, it\u2019s $45 for two hours on an electric bike, $10 an hour for a pedal bike or $25 for the day.<\/p>\n
According to Fun Beach owner Jim Stewart, it is only open during summer, which, according to Stewart is approximately \u201c100 days a year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Golf, Cornhole and more in Gearhart<\/p>\n
There are also a number of summer attractions in one spot in Gearhart. At McMenamins Sand Trap Pub and Hotel, in addition to quaffing a beer and grabbing a burger, you can also play a variety of lawn games such as Cornhole, take a turn on the putting green and more. You can also cheer on the golfers at Gearhart Golf Links \u2014 McMenamins\u2019 lawn is located between the 1st and 18th holes.<\/p>\n
Inside the Pot Bunker Bar, games of shuffleboard are available for just $5 an hour. And if you want to throw in some beach time while you\u2019re there, it\u2019s just a 4-6 minute walk to Del Rey Beach. If you want to gather around a beach fire or have a weenie roast, you can purchase wood bundles and kindling directly at McMenamins front desk.<\/p>\n
Play Cornhole at Buoy Beer Taproom<\/p>\n
Located at 1343 Duane St. in Astoria, the Buoy Beer Taproom has more than beer on tap up its sleeve \u2014 in the summertime, they bring out the Cornhole game.<\/p>\n
According to bartender Byron McCleod, Cornhole becomes a staple for the bar once the weather gets warmer. This year game play started in early June and they plan to continue having it available all summer, McCleod said. The game is usually brought out in the morning and if there\u2019s lots of action at the bar, it\u2019s out until closing. McCleod says it\u2019s really based on the crowd.<\/p>\n
An added bonus: the food truck park onsite. You can choose from Mexican, American, fish and pasta and Thai cuisines. Grab a beer, order a nosh, take a seat and Cornhole it up. <\/p>\n
Go kayaking, paddle boarding at Coffenbury Lake<\/p>\n
Coffenbury Lake in Warrenton is a great hangout spot during summer. From self-serve kayak and paddle boarding rentals to fishing, the lake experience at Fort Stevens State Park has a lot going for it. <\/p>\n
Kayak and paddle board rentals are available by the hour or day through Whenever Watersports using the app via an onsite QR code. For those who want to fish, Coffenbury Lake is a fresh water fishing experience. Be sure to have a fishing license.
