Widespread power outages hit the Sacramento area Saturday morning, according to Pacific Gas and Electric Co.<\/p>\n

As of 9:30 a.m., about 40,000 PG&E customers were without power in Placer County and more than 3,600 were affected in El Dorado County, according to the PG&E online outage website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

More than 5,000 customers were impacted near Granite Bay, according to PG&E\u2019s outage map, which, as of 9 a.m., said power is expected to be restored in the morning hours. Auburn is also heavily affected with the same anticipated timeline.<\/p>\n

The Placer County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> said drivers should treat intersections with nonfunctional traffic signals as a four-way stop. The agency also said it\u2019s responding to an increased number of calls because of power-loss triggers.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease be patient with one another and allow extra travel time as crews work to address the outage,\u201d the Sheriff\u2019s Office wrote in a statement on social media.<\/p>\n
