Learn more about EdSource here<\/a>.<\/p>\n SACRAMENTO, CA., 6\/20\/26 \u2014 The California Teachers Association, the state\u2019s largest teachers union, opposes a measure on the November ballot that would impose a one-time tax on the state\u2019s billionaires.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter thorough review and democratic debate about the Billionaire Tax Act, our State Council of Delegates \u2014 800 educator representatives from throughout the state \u2014 determined that this policy will not provide the sustainable and long-lasting funding that our schools and communities deserve,\u201d CTA wrote\u00a0in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n The union went on to say that they fully support taxing the wealthy, but prefer to do so by extending the taxes on the wealthy that were imposed under Proposition 30 and later Proposition 55, which generate millions for schools and community colleges and are set to end in 2030, unless voters extend them in November.<\/p>\n
