A member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors<\/a> who abruptly went on leave earlier this year is set to return to work next Monday, according to her colleagues.<\/p>\n

Supervisors Myrna Melgar and Rafael Mandelman claimed Jacqueline Fielder has told them she plans to return from leave earlier than her scheduled June 30 end date.<\/p>\n

At the end of March, Fielder, a left-leaning member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors representing District 9, began an unexpected absence before later publicly announcing she would be taking additional time away from her duties to focus on stabilizing her health<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Her office said in a March statement she wanted to \u201cregain stable health so she can thoughtfully and responsibly consider her options,\u201d while also addressing speculation that she might resign.<\/p>\n

Days later, her staff clarified that she was not planning to step down at that time, but would instead temporarily step back from the day-to-day management of the District 9 office for a three-month period while focusing on her recovery.<\/p>\n

Fielder represents the Bernal Heights, Portola and Mission neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

Her decision to take a temporary leave came amid heightened scrutiny of her office, which was being reviewed as part of a City Attorney investigation into a leaked internal memo.<\/p>\n

The document reportedly outlined potential legal concerns tied to the proposed RESET Center, a city-run sobering facility<\/a> on Sixth Street.<\/p>\n

Around the same time, one of her four legislative aides left the office unexpectedly, though her chief of staff rejected any suggestion that staff members were involved in the leak.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Mission District<\/a> continues to grapple with longstanding challenges including homelessness and open-air drug use.<\/p>\n
