The Sheriff\u2019s Office could not confirm Alfaro\u2019s hometown.<\/p>\n<p>Alfaro was in the Merced River above the 317-foot Nevada Fall, accessible from Mist Trail in the park, at an elevation gain of approximately 6,000 feet, according to the National Park Service website.<\/p>\n<p>The National Park Service has confirmed with multiple news <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/national-parks\/article\/yosemite-incident-waterfall-fatality-22315968.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">outlets<\/a> that an investigation is underway.<\/p>\n<p>Yosemite National Park could not be reached for comment Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Reports about the fatal incident began when an unnamed individual made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Yosemite\/comments\/1uben8p\/do_you_have_any_news_on_the_person_that_fell\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> on Reddit on Saturday, asking for additional information about the person who allegedly fell from Nevada Falls earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p>The original poster, who claimed to have been present at the time of the event, said they \u201cheard people screaming\u201d and they initially thought there had been a bear sighting.<\/p>\n<p>A woman who was reportedly in the river at the same time was rescued when someone handed her a tree branch, but Alfaro was swept into the fall.<\/p>\n<p>The poster described the event as \u201chorrifying to see\u201d and noted helicopters flew into the area along with rescuers with \u201cmaterials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yosemite National Park confirmed with multiple news outlets that emergency personnel responded to the incident and additional information is not available at this time.<\/p>\n<p>                                          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_yosemite_4_1_LNF5LJGS_L444871156.JPG\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"897\" title=\"IMG_yosemite_4_1_LNF5LJGS_L444871156.JPG\" alt=\"The view of Nevada Fall from the John Muir Trail in summer 2006.\"\/>                                                                                    The view of Nevada Fall from the John Muir Trail in summer 2006.
