{"id":374571,"date":"2026-06-25T16:05:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T16:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/374571\/"},"modified":"2026-06-25T16:05:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T16:05:54","slug":"man-killed-in-shooting-near-oaklands-uptown-district-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/374571\/","title":{"rendered":"Man killed in shooting near Oakland\u2019s Uptown District"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OAKLAND \u2014 A man was fatally shot while driving Wednesday afternoon near Oakland\u2019s Uptown District, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting happened around 3 p.m. in the 550 block of 17th Street, just west of San Pablo Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>According to initial police reports, the man was shot at least once by someone standing outside his black BMW sedan.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being wounded, the man was able to drive a short distance to a parking lot at 17th Street and San Pablo Avenue. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to an area hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n<p>The death marked then city\u2019s 26th homicide of the year.<\/p>\n<p>A motive for the shooting is under investigation.
