Despite the suspect vehicle\u2019s plate appearing to be altered, police said RTIC analysts found additional images that helped identify a possible license plate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The suspect\u2019s vehicle was located by SJPD patrol officers at the registered owner\u2019s address and had \u201cdamage consistent with the collision,\u201d according to police. The driver, who has not been identified publicly by police, was taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police said the victim has been stabilized but remains in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
