The department announced Oakland Beach should close June 16, citing high levels of Enterocci bacteria. Thursday afternoon, the health department announced the beach was safe for swimming again.<\/p>\n

Briar Point Beach in Coventry and Easton\u2019s Beach in Newport, which also closed to swimming June 16, were cleared for swimming a few days later, on June 19<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RIDOH will continue to\u202fmonitor\u202fand review\u00a0beach\u00a0water quality through Labor Day. The status of a\u00a0beach\u00a0may change as new data becomes available.
