The sweeper will be used for coastal and street grooming, according to the staff report. The maximum cost: $66,726.23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was a Consent Calendar item. The council doesn\u2019t talk about consent items unless a council member pulls one individual discussion. Nothing was pulled from this week\u2019s Consent Calendar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u201cThe City of Seal Beach (City) currently maintains approximately 1.75 miles of state-owned beaches and conducts routine maintenance along the coastline,\u201d according to the staff report prepared by Sean Low, deputy director of Public Works\u2013Maintenance and Utilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things staff does is use a power sweeper and other tools to clear sand areas, walkways, and parking lots, according to Low\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe City\u2019s existing sweeper has been in service for over 13 years, exceeding the manufacturer\u2019s recommended replacement interval of 10 years,\u201d Low wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn addition to its age, the equipment operates in a harsh coastal environment where exposure to sand, salt air, and moisture accelerates wear and corrosion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs a result, this unit has become less efficient and has experienced increased downtime due to more frequent repairs,\u201d Low wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStaff evaluated available similar industrial sweepers from multiple manufacturers and recommends replacing the existing sweeper with a Haacker Total Clean PowerBoss Armadillo 9X Industrial Rider Sweeper (Sweeper),\u201d Low wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sweeper collects a wide variety of debris, according to Low\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Armadillo 9X sweeper is an off-road vehicle that weighs less than 8,500 pounds, according to Low\u2019s report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis equipment replacement would additionally provide less frequent grooming passes along boardwalks, walkways, and lots which further reduce staff time dedicated to this task, enabling more time allocations toward a higher level of service for all residents and visitors alike,\u201d Low wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis item is already budgeted and will be expensed in the adopted FY 2026-2027 budget,\u201d Low wrote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Seal Beach City Council unanimously approved the purchase of an industrial power sweeper on Monday, June 22.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":1359,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[33],"tags":[131,133,132],"class_list":["post-375972","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-long-beach","tag-long-beach","tag-long-beach-headlines","tag-long-beach-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/375972","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=375972"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/375972\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1359"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=375972"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=375972"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=375972"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
